Setup guide
About two minutes from here to your first song. If you've added a Discord bot before, none of this will surprise you — and if you get stuck, there's a way out at the bottom of every step.
AMP is invite-only while it's in beta. Join the Discord and tap Get my personal code in #getting-started — it's issued instantly, free, and lasts 90 days.
Join the Discord →Paste your code, pick your server, and confirm. This is the normal Discord "add a bot" screen — you'll need Manage Server permission, which you already have if it's your own server.
Redeem your code →In your server, run /setchannel and pick a text channel. AMP only reads that one channel — it ignores the rest of your server completely.
Already have a channel called #music? AMP picks it automatically when it joins, so you can skip this.
Join a voice channel, then just type a song name in that channel — no command needed. Prefer commands? /play works too, and leaving it empty starts a radio station.
That's the whole setup. Everything below is optional.
AMP works entirely from Discord. The Windows app adds a proper player on top — search, queue, synced lyrics, stats and radio in one window, controlling whatever's playing in your server.
Download, sign in with Discord, and it connects to wherever AMP is already playing.
Download the app →Use the web dashboard instead — same controls, nothing to install.
Open the web app →Heads up: the installer isn't code-signed yet, so Windows may show a blue "Windows protected your PC" screen. Choose More info → Run anyway. It's expected, and we're sorting proper signing.
These are two different things, and the names look alike — so here's the plain version.
Earned by listening. Run /rank in your server and AMP draws you a card: your level, your streak, your taste and your top artists. It grows on its own — there's nothing to opt into.
Earned by bringing people in. Invite a friend to the AMP Discord with your own invite and it counts automatically. Rungs at 1, 3, 5, 10 and 25 unlock roles and AMP+ discounts.
Short version: /rank is for listening, #leaderboard is for inviting. They don't affect each other.
Go to #amp-desk in the Discord and tap a button — pick what's wrong and you get the fix immediately. If that doesn't sort it, the same screen sends it to the team and you get a reply in your own private thread.
| AMP ignores what I type | Run /setchannel — it only listens in the one channel you pick. |
| It joined but there's no sound | Give it Speak permission in the voice channel, and check it isn't server-muted. |
| My invite code says expired or used | Codes last 90 days and work on one server. Tap Get my personal code again for a fresh one. |
| The app shows nothing playing | Play something in a server you're in — the app follows live playback. |
| The app won't install or update | Reinstall from get-amp.com. It repairs in place and your settings survive. |
| I want to cancel AMP+ | Use the manage link in your Paddle receipt email, or ask at #amp-desk and we'll cancel it same-day. |
